We are dedicated to the preservation, protection, understanding and enhancement of one of America’s greatest resources-the Missouri river. This is the longest river system in North America and drains 529,350 square miles of the United States and Canada. When combined with the Mississippi river, it is the fourth longest river system in the world.
Guided by scientific data, our mission is to conserve, enhance and advocate for the unique ecological resources of this valuable watershed.

Where We Work
The Upper Missouri Watershed, defined by UMOWA, is the section of the Missouri River from Holter Dam to Cascade, Montana.
Within this 35-mile stretch, there are numerous tributary creeks and rivers that feed into the “Mighty Mo,” including the Dearborn River.
